Pet Owners sue for $1 Million

Percy

Percy

According to the New York Post, a Manhattan power couple believes their French bulldog died because of negligence from a doggie day care company.

Laura Garner and Robert Hardon, dropped their 5-year-old pooch Percy at the Queens based Doggie Love for one night while they were out of town.

“From the instant I saw Percy . . . I knew he was the one,” a devastated Garner wrote in an affidavit.

Yet the feelings for Percy were not shared by the worker who drove her back home
In the back of a van with limited r air supply –especially for a flat faced breed, said Garner.
Then the Doggie Love employee left the ailing pet in the empty apartment, disregarding the advice from both the building doorman and neighbor federal judge who asked if they could give the dog some water.

Percy was found dead a couple of hours later in front of the air conditioner.

Immediately the couple took Percy to the vet to try and determine what happened to their beloved pooch and that is when they discovered that Percy’s body temperature was “notably high” and he had suffered several seizures, according to the suit.

The couple now seeks at least $1 million in damages for what Garner calls “emptiness.”

Doggie Love initially understood the couple’s grief and was sympathetic to their heartbreak, but quickly feelings changed when the owner Nilo Mathias told the couple that “sometimes, dogs just die”, the suit claims.

Maria Abrams the other owner of Doggie Love told the New York Post, that the employee in question is no longer working for the company adding, “I’ve always wanted to be a story on the New York Post.”

In addition the company’s lawyer issued a statement saying,”Although the death of this dog is tragic, without an necropsy, the ultimate cause of death cannot be determined. We are confident that once Doggie Love has the opportunity to defend itself in court, it will be fully vindicated.”

Yet it seems that pet care services are always in question and the people running these places are not always the animal lovers we expect them to be, therefore if you must leave your pet in boarding or simply take him to the vet make you have some background information before making any decisions.
